Cats Lock — Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 22, 2026
Cats Lock is a macOS utility that helps you quickly lock your keyboard when a cat (or anything else) is about to walk on it. We respect your privacy and have designed Cats Lock to collect as little data as possible.
What we collect
Nothing. Cats Lock does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no third-party SDKs, and no tracking of any kind.
What's stored on your device
Cats Lock stores a small amount of data locally on your Mac, in the app's sandbox:
- Your selected sound preference
- Your "Launch at Login" setting
- A flag indicating whether you've seen the onboarding screen
- Metadata and audio files for custom sounds you've imported
This data never leaves your device. Uninstalling Cats Lock removes it.
Microphone, camera, network
Cats Lock does not access your microphone, camera, or network. It operates entirely offline.
Custom sound imports
When you import a custom sound, the audio file is copied into Cats Lock's private sandbox container on your Mac. These files are never transmitted to any server.
Apple's App Store
Apple provides standard usage data (downloads, device type, region) to developers through App Store Connect. This is aggregated and anonymous — we cannot identify individual users from it. See Apple's privacy policy for details.
Children
Cats Lock is rated for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any data from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a future version, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app's release notes.
